A LROCP license is a nationally recognised license issued by the

Australian Maritime College (AMC) of Tasmania.

As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, and consistent with a newly introduced training process at Volunteer Marine Rescue Mackay, the LROCP course will now be offered as a blended course, consisting of self-paced learning on line, and a face to face practical assessment and online examination.

What this means now is that instead of spending a whole day at Volunteer Marine Rescue doing the radio course training, you can now do the study component on line, and when you are ready, attend the base for the practical assessment and the theory examination.

The LROCP Handbook can be purchased from the AMC, or studied on line. Purchase of a manual (currently $45 plus postage) from the AMC and is recommended as it can be kept near a marine radio and used for a reference text or reminder on how to use the correct procedures.

Revision questions, which are included in the Handbook at the end of each chapter, are also available on line as a separate section.

The examination does require a +70% pass rate, if you fail to pass you will be required to pay another $95.00 for another exam paper.

Numbers for each session are limited to 12, so book early to avoid disappointment.
